No Time – Suffer No Fool (LP)
TKO Records / Mendeku Records – 2023

With No Time announcing a brand-new 7-inch (Comply or Die, out soon on TKO & Mendeku Records), it felt like the perfect moment to look back at the record that marked their explosive return — Suffer No Fool. Because before you can understand where this Pittsburgh crew are headed, you’ve got to appreciate how hard they came swinging back in the first place.

When Suffer No Fool dropped, it had been years since their previous LP You’ll Get Yours. Many had written them off as another great band gone quiet, but what came next was anything but quiet — a 14-track sledgehammer that reminded everyone just how lethal this outfit can be. No Time fuse hardcore energy with bootboy swagger and rock’n’roll grit in a way that only they can.

This record is pure Bootboy Rock’n’Roll. It’s fast, furious, but also stupidly catchy — proof that tough music can still swing. Music for the working class and football fans is what this record shouts.

Tracks like Never Wrong and Everything You Hate show how No Time balance anger and joy better than most. Everything You Hate, with its unapologetically anti-racist stance, stands tall as one of the band’s defining moments — proof that they’re not just playing hard, they’re standing for something real. There’s a lot of societal discontent thrown in there and the lyrics touch on gentrification, class struggle, and authoritarianism.

If Suffer No Fool somehow passed you by the first time, now’s your chance to fix that before Comply or Die lands. This album is a reminder that Oi! and hardcore can still feel urgent, alive, and dangerous in the right hands.

With the new 7" on the horizon, Suffer No Fool still stands tall — a modern classic that deserves to be blasted loud enough to rattle windows and piss off your neighbours. Bootboy hc rock’n’roll doesn’t get much better than this.
