The Stress - Here First Here Last

Gepubliceerd op 20 september 2026 om 16:45

The Stress are a Long Island, New York Oi! / streetpunk band that has been steadily building a solid reputation in the American scene over the last few years. A working-class attitude, and a clear commitment to the classic sound — this is their latest full-length, following earlier releases like Never Die and More Than You’ll Ever Be.

The lyrics of the band reflect real-world issues, as opposed to slogans. There is pride, loyalty, isolation, and dislike for faux bravado and scene gimmicks. The title track “Here First, Here Last” is pure anthem material, short and sharp with a chorus made for shouting along. Songs such as "False Pride," "Reap What You Sow," and "Preach To The Choir" carry the expected messages of working-class dissatisfaction, criticizing pretentiousness and expressing everyday rage.

The Stress know exactly what they’re doing here. Here First, Here Last is a confident, no-frills Oi! record that sits firmly in the stronger end of the current American scene. Solid songwriting, dual-guitar punch, and a proper attitude throughout.
