Mess serves a no-frills crash course in the classics-classic street punk and Oi!-culled from the streets of Guadalajara, Mexico, via their Somos Mess compilation (out May 2026). The 16-track collection packages up the band's 2020-2022 output-EPs, singles, rarities, split 7-inches-freshly remastered and on a single LP.
Musically, Mess wears its influences like an invisible shield: It boasts UK82’s shouty urgency, the sing-along anthems of classic Oi! (think Blitz, The Business, Sham 69), and a ground-level street grit. Each track runs two or three minutes of hot guitars, hard-hitting rhythm, and rasping, bilingual vocals and lyrics-a healthy mix of English and Spanish for a more authentic-yet-familiar feel that sets them apart. The lyrics address paranoia, authority, romance, street life, and the self, all fodder for punk but delivered with more heart than preachment.
The songs flow surprisingly well together as an album-length listen, with the collection successfully capturing the band's evolution from tentative beginnings to a fully realized force.
