The Templars – Reconquista Volume III: 1996–2011

The Templars have long been the definitive American Oi! band—raw, mysterious, and prolific to the point of overwhelming. That’s why the Reconquista series is such a gift: it pulls together the scattered comp tracks, b-sides, and rarities into something cohesive. Volume III spans 1996 through 2011, and like the first two volumes, it proves that the band never let their standards slip.

The songs here aren’t just scraps..Each track stands on its own, yet together they form a coherent, driving record that captures the band at their most potent.

“Take On The World” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears” feel like lost classics, while “Politicians” and “Posers” hit with the blunt force that’s always defined their sound. Across both sides, the consistency is remarkable: this could easily pass for a proper studio album, not an odds-and-ends collection.

One of the defining features of Reconquista Volume III is its consistency. Even with material drawn from various sources, the album flows naturally; the sequencing keeps momentum high and ensures the listener feels the same adrenaline and raw energy as on a standard studio release. The production, while deliberately unpolished, gives the songs a sense of immediacy and authenticity, letting the band’s aggression and melodic instincts shine through.

This collection also underscores why The Templars remain relevant decades into their career. Their songwriting blends anthemic choruses with street-level realism, never relying on nostalgia or gimmicks. Whether tackling the frustrations of working-class life, calling out hypocrisy, or simply delivering a high-energy stomp, the band demonstrates a clarity of purpose and vision that keeps them at the top of the scene.

Reconquista Volume III is a testament to the enduring power of The Templars. By gathering these tracks in one place, the series provides both a historical snapshot and a vital listening experience. It proves that even their odds-and-ends are anything but disposable: they’re essential Oi!, loud, proud, and uncompromising.
