The Young Ones – With a Touch of Panache

Two decades on the clock and still just Oi! – that’s The Young Ones in a nutshell. These lads from the Netherlands have built a reputation as one of the tightest, most reliable outfits in European Oi!, and their new album With a Touch of Panache proves once again why they’ve held that spot for so long.

From the opening roar of “Boots Still Stomp the Same”, it’s clear the lads haven’t lost an ounce of their bite. The riffs are sharp, the choruses built for fists in the air, and the rhythm section still drives like a bulldozer through a tableware shop.

The tracklist is a well-balanced mix of grit and hooks. The nod to The Strike with a rousing cover of “Skinhead” seals the deal for anyone who doubted their roots. As always, the sound sits comfortably between the classics and the modern – think the raw charm of Cockney Rejects with the urgency of a new generation.

With a Touch of Panache is exactly what the name suggests – traditional Oi! with just enough finesse to keep it fresh, without ever going soft.

Released on Contra Records and Longshot Music, this album is built to hear live in a tight sweaty venue or bar. It’s street punk the way it should be: loud, proud, and meant to be sung along with a pint in hand.
