With The Tokyo Rankers, the Tokyo Rankers drop an album that hits like they’ve been doing this for decades (and they have!). Four older lads out of Peterborough, no gimmicks, no experiments – just 12 tracks of straight-up British-style streetpunk.
From “Bastards back 2” to “Won't let go”, the songs stomp, shout, and stick in your head. The guitars and bass are clean but punchy, the drums keep it boot-stomping tight, and the vocals come through sharp and clear – no slurred pub-growls, just proper anthems made to be shouted back.
Lyrically and musically, they don’t reinvent anything, and that’s the point. This is Oi! as it’s meant to be: singalong choruses, working-class themes, and that oldschool rock ’n’ roll backbone. “One more time”, “Just my life”, and “Fuck all” could have been lifted straight from the classic era, yet they sound fresh enough to blast on repeat.
No filler, no weak spots – just a solid LP that belongs in the collection of anyone who still believes in boots, beers, and Oi!
